WOW

America's got talent 2008 Eli Mattson Walking in Memphis.
I can't wait until this guy gets signed....I want to buy his CD. I think he is going to go far, his voice makes me shivery. Meet my new imaginary husband....he's gonna be a star.

Uh - OK. This show would probably kick ass (I've never seen it) if Mr. Knight Rider had to battle Ms. Osbourne to the death. Then that Gerry Springer ass could come out, kill the victor before sailing off to a deserted island to never be heard from again. If they get that shit organized, I'll tune in.

I don't watch the show, don't have cable, was just told about this guy and looked him up.

You should write up a pilot for the show you are describing - sounds like it could be a winner! I'm sure most of us would tune in for that...hah.

Don't understand your admiration. And I hope he doesn't get signed just because he can sing a song someone else wrote. The caption under his name read singer/songwriter, but I think they only got that half right.

I had to stop this at the 31 second mark. Boring.

Good thing we are not siamese twins then. You'd be real grumpy after awhile.

My kids love that show. Thank goodness for TiVo so that I don't have to sit through every last second of it.

I thought he was pretty good. There was a lady on there that I thought was pretty okay as well, but the chick on the russian bar kicked ass. You should look her up and watch that, dude. I was astonished.

GAH! People! Just because a song sounded one way when it was created, does not mean that it can't be good interpreted by someone else. I do know the song, I have known it since it came out and have always liked it.

I like eli mattson's version, I love his voice. It's his voice I'm listening too and impressed with. He could be singing the freakin' alphabet and I'd still like his voice.

Sheesh! *grin*

Oh, Erin.

There's nothing wrong with making a cover song different, in fact, that's what makes for a good cover song; something that's a very original take on the first one, musically. This guy's version is only different in vocal (from the 31 seconds I heard), not in music; the piano sounded the exact same.

That's a problem. All he's doing is copying, like tracing a nice image through nearly transparent paper. Anyone can sing, or anyone can be trained to sing. Real talent is in original songwriting.

So, when someone like this comes about, with no songwriting skills, he must be judged on his appearance I say. And this guy's look leaves much to be desired.

I looked it up - he didn't have much a choice. He will be doing his own songs later in the show apparently.....oh fuck it. Doesn't really matter anyways. I like his voice, thats about it.

going to eat soup and pie now.

Well I thought he sounded good. And if he does put out a CD it won't be of a bunch of songs that other people did. That's the nature of these competitions. Half of the people love it while the other half hates it.

FYI about cover songs on America's Got Talent, the producers don't usually allow original songs, except from the doomed loser acts they let on the stage for laughs. The cover-only requirement is stated in the audition rules. Check Eli's MySpace for songs he recorded 7 years ago.
